Spiced grilled sweet potatoes

Not only since burger places are all over the cities sweet potatoes are popular as a side dish. They are also the perfect side dish for your grilling dinner – to serve alongside grilled meat or fish. With your O.F.B. you can prepare them perfectly, no matter whether you pre-cook them and only use the grill for the finishing or whether you make crisps out of them. A spicy rub makes a tasty complement and makes them even more addictive!

Ingredients for 4 persons as a side dish

3-4 medium sized sweet potatoes
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground curcumin
  • ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • Olive oil
  • Salt

Preparation

Boil the whole sweet potatoes in salted water for 15 minutes. Simmer until cooked and drain well. When they have cooled down a little so you can touch them, cut them into 0.5mm thick slices. If you do not want to pre-cook them, you can also cut them into thinner slices and cook them in Otto’s O.F.B. When cutting them extra thin you will get crunchy crisps.

Combine the spices in a bowl. Add the sweet potato slices and mix everything well. Add olive oil and rub the sweet potato slices until they are covered evenly with olive oil and the spice blend.

Place the marinated sweet potatoes in a fireproof bowl. Pre-heat your O.F.B. and grill the sweet potatoes at little temperature and Meat-O-Meter level 3 until they are golden and crispy. Occasionally turn so that they are grilled from all sides.
